Worth 10%, due in lab, week 8 (March 5, 2008)

  • Regarding Group Formation...
    • 3 or 4 people in a group.. those are the ideal numbers
    • It would be a good idea to work with a group that isn’t too “homogenous” – ie. people you already know really well – because you probably won’t learn much
    • Pick peers that you know you will get in touch with and meet on a regular basis to discuss the assignment
    • Choose people you work well with
    • Meet regularly so the assignment has a continuous flow rather than pieces put together, which will be obvious.
    • Group must form around common concern

  • Group resumé
    • Outline of who you are
    • Individual talents/interests
    • Plan for the division of labour

  • Communication Strategy
    • What am I trying to achieve with this?
    • What is my message?
    • Who I'm trying to target message to (be specific)
    • What is my audience/target demographic?
    • What media is the best way to reach them?
    • What messages I am putting out?
    • What change am I trying to bring out?
    • What are the influences I want to bring?

  • Regarding Submission...
    • Post to your group-specific wikipage, and place a link to that page here

  • Marketing the way you do it:
    • Objectives - measurable outcome in a company
    • Goals - what you hope to achieve
    • Audience - for whom it is intended
    • Key Message - in any campaign, 3-5 things you want to drive your objectives to get the message out
    • Strategy - bigger idea of what you're going to do
    • Tactics - how you are going to do it
    • Measurement - specific numerical figures (i.e. increasing sales at a certain percent)
